Implementation Of Restfull Web Service In The Development Of A Codeiginiter Based Car Rental Application Using The Waterfall Method

Abstract

More and more vehicle rental businesses are popping up, making competition even tighter, business owners are required to innovate, for example by using technology to complete their operational activities. Assa Rent is a business that operates in the field of vehicle rental services, especially cars. Customers who want to rent sometimes have to come first to the rental place to make a booking, then come back to pick up the car they borrowed according to the time specified when making the booking, and also sometimes when making a booking the vehicle the customer wants to order is already sold out. Apart from that, customer transactions are still carried out manually by recording the order data of customers who rent vehicles in the rental book. Based on the existing problems, in this research an application regarding car rental was created. This application was developed using API (Application Programming Interface) technology, namely the REST API. Code Igniter 3 was used to build a backend application with a Mode-View-Controller (MVC) architecture which facilitates the separation between logic, display and application flow control. The application was developed using the method waterfall. After that, validation testing and compatibility testing were carried out. The results of validation testing using the black-box testing method obtained valid results for all functional requirements tested. Meanwhile, compatibility testing resulted in the system being able to run in various browsers tested for the web.
