| Abstract | MA Hidayatus Syubban Semarang is one of the schools that has an MA level or equivalent to high school. In teaching and learning activities, this school has 2 (two) majors for students in class XI and XII, namely science and social studies majors. In fact, there are many students in class X who face obstacles in determining which major to choose for the next class. The students were indecisive and hesitant in determining the majors that matched their respective fields of interest. In the end, it is not uncommon for them to make major decisions not because of considerations of their field of interest and abilities, but based on the recommendations of friends and the most chosen area of interest. In overcoming this problem the author wants to create a system using the waterfall model system development method because the system development process is carried out sequentially from analysis to maintenance. In addition, the author uses the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) algorithm. The use of the K-Nearest Neighbor (KNN) method is used to classify student data for class XI and XII to become a reference for the system later. The result of this research is a decision support system that can help direct the appropriate field of interest/department for the X grade students of MA Hidayatus Syubban Semarang. It is hoped that this system can help students of class X MA Hidayatus Syubban in selecting areas of interest/department. |
